Past Events:

In 2012: The Red Deer College Poetry Society and Red Deer Arts Council presented “The Poetry Prowl” in honour of Poetry Month. We invited folks to join us for a poetic tour of downtown Red Deer from 1:00 – 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 14th, 2012.  The Poetry Prowl began at Art from the Streets at 1:00 pm and carried on to Sunworks, Alberta Art and Drafting, Muse Clothing and Comforts the Sole.  The event ended in the lower level of the Scott Block Theatre with a reception.

2011: The Red Deer College Poetry Society and Red Deer Arts Council presented “The Poetry Prowl”  on Saturday, April 2nd.  The “Prowl”  was very successful with about 40 people in attendance despite the weather trying to rain and snow. A fun time was had by all.

The Poetry Prowl 2013, was held on Saturday, April 13 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.

Red Deer’s annual roaming poetry festival rolled through once more in celebration of poetry month this past April. We were in  four locations in downtown Red Deer for a fun-filled afternoon of poetry readings. There was snacks and books for sale at our final venue and special guest Kris Demeanor performed as our feature poet. Kris Demeanor was named Calgary’s first Poet Laureate last year and he entertained the crowd with his special blend of spoken word accompanied by guitar.

Our four venues were:

1 to 1:30 Sunworks (4924 50 Street)

1:30 to 2 The Hub on Ross (4936 50 Street

2 t0 2:30 DOSE Coffee Co. (4912-50 Avenue

2:30 to 3 Scott Block Centennial Stage (4816 50 Avenue)

Reception followed in Centennial Stage from 3 to 3:30 pm. The event was free for all to attend.
